HI !

I’m Esa – Elmo, Elemo, Elmeri, Elemeri
– as you see, a bass player goes by many names.

I was born in Lahti – still I am a thoroughbred Kuusamo bloke, although I feel completely at home in Oulu. I shall tell you a little about my past: I spent my youth in Kuusamo and a relentless urge to play rock music (or a lack of sense) drove me into forming a band with my neighbour kids. Well – the group turned out to be ZERO NINE.

For some twenty years, we toured eagerly in Finland and also abroad. At Råsunda stadium in Stockholm, a country bloke from North East was astounded in front of an audience of 30,000 people. We did a tour with AC/DC reaching all the way to Germany, threw a gig at the legendary Marquee club in London, and knocked back backstage vodkas in Russia so that I had to ask the mates which country we were in. Besides touring, we produced six albums here, there and everywhere.
The recordings were published all around the world. This was about the best possible school of life a guy can wish for! The boys are still going strong and continue their career by making new great albums.

After the most hectic days of touring were over, I and my best friend Kepa Salmirinne, vocalist of our band, and then Kuusrock promoter Ilpo Sulkala put up a rock club together. The club is 45 Special, which rocks in full bloom even today… No complaints there.

What’s more, back home in Ruka, Kuusamo, we acquired an accommodation business called Rukakorpi. It comprises of 5 holiday bungalows that can accommodate as many as 40 people. It has been enjoyable getting into the tourist business as well.

At some point Kepa and I composed, wrote, and arranged sung radio commercials and jingles. This went to the point of us receiving a silver radio award in a radio commercial contest
along with a top-of-the-year award. The sound and music production has been going on now alongside the restaurant keeping and bungalow business.

I built my first PC-based studio in a cellar location in Helatie, Oulu, where the world of digital sound swept me away, and
the modern possibilities of making music with computers almost became a passion – it is such damn fun!


In autumn 2005 I started a small enterprise project: a house and a studio! After getting a piece of land, I grabbed “the ram by the horns” and here we are! The 40-squaremetre studio premises include a vocal recording space, a control/mixing room, a storage room, and finally, the toilet…

Elmerson Studio One is a PC-based, fully equipped digital studio which works as the building site for songs and the workshop for making sound commercial music and producing commercials. Only a large recording space did not fit in my plans, and I sometimes visit a neighbouring studio to record stuff like drums, for example. After six months of hard work the job was finally done, the monitoring facilities in the mixing room were excellent, and the overall conditions for enjoyment were good.

Now that my facilities are in order, I’m looking for possibilities of cooperation with new singers, songwriters, sound engineers and producers, who could utilise the potential of my studio – from making demos and arrangements to actual record production and so on. There is still plenty of room in the world for new songs!

So, currently I’m writing, recording and mixing songs in Kynsilehto, Oulu, where I live with my wife Elina in our one-family house next door to the studio, occasionally cooking lovely food for my daughter Mira when she’s not too busy to come home for dinner. So: EVERYTHING’S OK!
