Car Wars MMORPG (project name)
First few words about this site:
I made this website primarily for myself, to keep track of all the ideas and concepts I have, so it's not pretty, just lines of text. Maybe I'll add some
pictures later, maybe I'll even bother to do a css file and make the site easier for eyes and more appealing, maybe. Still I have posted some links to this site
to few gaming forums I participate and I have this grand illusion of some game developer reading this and thinking "Hey, that's a good idea, maybe I'll contact
that guy and maybe we can make a game out of it." or maybe someone reads this, mentions it to a friend, who mentions it to his friend who happens to work in a
gaming company. I have even sent few emails to various game companies, asking their opinions. So far the response has been "Thanks, but no thanks",
but there is always hope.
I've had this idea for a new game for several years now, actually since the release of Interstate '76 in 1997. I loved that game back then and still do,
but, altough best automotive combat game ever made, the game was still missing something.
It had the story mode and some standalone missions and that's it. What I thought back then was to take good automotive combat and mix it with Elite style gameplay,
with open ended, do-what-you-want-most idea.
Some time ago it occurred to me, that maybe it could even be made as an MMO, that's when I started to have grand illusions. So I started to write down all these
various ideas in my head, writing down notes, thinking things more deeply, trying to think from several points of view, always keeping the basic idea
"would this be possible to make, with still keeping the game playable." Some of the ideas I had were good, but at the same time I knew they could never be done.
Like the idea that you could take passengers to your car who would shoot out of the windows or that when you fire the a weapon, the game would track the bullet and see
if it hits anything.
The more I thought of the game, the more I thought about that one big problem I have. I'm no good drawing and I know almost nothing about coding (I have fairly good
idea of how hard different things are to code), so I had no way of making this game reality. Except this site and that's why it's here, to show all these ideas for
the public and keep my hopes up of this game ever coming out.
Before I start explaining key parts of the game, let me say few thing about myself.
Im 25-year old finnish guy, I've been gamer since 1984, when I got my first C=64. In 1993 I got my first PC and I've been a PC gamer since,
I never owned a console of any kind. I have though played quite much of console games at my friends. My gaming taste is very varied, but mostly action oriented
(FPS, Action, Action/Adventure, Racing) but I never say no to a good strategy or a well written adventure game.
I've also loved MMOs, so I have quite long experience from them, mostly from Ultima Online, EVE Online, RF Online, World of Warcraft and World War II Online, but I
also have some experience from Everquest 2, Star Wars Galaxies, Pirates of the Burning Sea and Tabula Rasa.
So, here are the links to the different things of the game I have thought of so far. At the end of this page, you will find my email address, I will always like to
hear suggestions and recieve feedback, even critisism.
Some areas have lots of text, other have less. Also, this site is under constant changes and I will propably add some recent changes section soon,
but until then, you just have to keep checking around.
One more thing about the game, the view would be 1st person. Check the car customization, user interface and combat sections to know why.
