Cars

Car collection should also be quite large and extremely varied. I have designed some basic roles for different types of cars. Idea is that every car type in the game has it's own purpose. Main idea with car designs is that they should be loosely based on cars of the 70's and 80's.

Sport cars
Sport cars are fast and maneuverable, but lightly armored, have only few weapon hardpoints, very small cargo capacity and weight limit. They are good for scouting, fast hit'n'run attacks, fast transport of small items, stuff like that.

Sedans and STW
Just like in real life, these are the general workhorses. They have decent armor, enough weapon hardpoints to do some damage, decent speed. True all-arounders.

SUVs
SUVs are the bigger and better versions of STWs, more armor, more firepower, better weight limit. But, little bit harder to handle and slower.

Trucks
Trucks do what they are made for, haulin'. Large cargo capacity, large weight limit, tough armor and on the other side, only forward pointing weapons and not much speed.

Off-roaders
These are your choice when you decide to find out what there is in the wilds between. Off-roading is also a nice way to get past obstacles and ambushes.

Tracked vehicles
Not actually tanks, but rather variable collection of different light tracked vehicles. They have extremely tough armor, more than enough firepower. Special about tracked vehicles is, that you have to pay for every mile you drive on goverment controlled roads, cause the tracks do damage to the road.

Control models for tracked vehicles:
I have thought of 3 different control models for tracked vehicles, listing in order from cheapest to most expensive:
1) Two sticks, One stick for each track. Forward is forward, center is brakes, backwards is backward, simple enough. Best controlled with either keyboard (either 3 buttons per track or 2 with automatic centering) or dual-analog gamepad.
2) WW2 style, It's best to explain this by telling how it would work with joystick with rudder-twist. Forward is forward, back is brakes, stick left is left track brake, stick right is right track brake, twist left is left track clutch, twist right is right track clutch, auto clutch when braking by pulling stick back. You turn by braking the tracks, but if you do this without applying clutch to that track first, you will lose lot of speed and could even stall your engine. This is best played with joystick, gamepad (stick for forward/back+brakes, other stick or R1/L1 buttons for clutches), but also keyboard control is possible.
3) Computer controlled system, similar to modern battle tanks, you have wheel and 2 pedals, you drive it like a car.
