Info for Developers

As a part of grand illusion of some game developer getting interested and even creating a game out of this concept, I decided to write this section, containing a small analysis of who this game is for and few words of why it could stand a chance in the MMO market.

Who is it for?
Who is the target audience? Well there are few key points helping to define our target audience:
1) The game is quite complex, so people who start to play shouldn't be afraid of complexity.
2) Lack of automotive combat games, there hasn't been that many automotive combat games out there, so it leaves a vacuum.
3) Kind of post-apocalyptic sci-fi approach, most of MMORPGs out there are fantasy, there are only a handful of sci-fi MMOs.
4) Technical approach, the idea of having different engines, transmissions, suspension etc. with somewhat realistic statistics gives the game that technical aspect.

With these in mind, we can define some things about a target player.
1) Likes complex games, where he is not given everything right at the beginning, but rather keeps learning things over time.
2) Likes cars and the idea of automotive combat, propably a fan of games like Interstate and/or twisted metal, but also likes ActionRPGs.
3) Sci-fi fan or at least interested in sci-fi.
4) Knows at least basics of how cars work, likes game where you can modify your car (or spaceship).

Is there enough that kind of players to keep this game alive? I don't know, nobody knows, but I like to believe that there would be, as long as the game is good.
Now, you may think of what happened to Auto Assault, but that wasn't because it was an automotive combat game, but rather cause of small flaws the game had. It had no long term goal, no death penalty and it wasn't advertised well enough. When you mention Auto Assault, most people are like "What? Where? When?, Haven't heard of it!"

Does it stand a chance in MMO market these days?
Again, I don't know, nobody knows, but again I'd like to think so, for several reasons. There aren't that many sci-fi MMOs out there, there are only few decent automotive combat games, there are no car MMORPGs, the game is very open ended which is what many players want, the game has that technical aspect in it. Truth is, that this game could never be a "WoW killer" and it shouldn't be. Creating a game that could overtake WoW would need hundreds of millions dollars and many years of work, but instead of that, this game could take it's share of players who don't like WoW cause it's fantasy, cause it's too simple for them or some reason like that.

So why should we make this game?
For starters, here's a very detailed concept for many aspects of the game. In addition to these things, I have planned many things which are hard or nearly impossible to explain here. I have told of this idea to many of my friends and many of them have liked it and have even thought of it as fresh and new. Of course, it's a risk, creating a MMO is always risky, but if you are willing to take that risk it may be worth it.

Why did you do this?
Why did I write all this stuff here? Two main reasons. First, like mentioned in the main page, I've been a gamer for a long time and like every gamer, every now and then I've had an idea for a new game, but this time the idea stayed in my head and took shape, so I decided to write it down. It's a bit like starting you own blog. Second, the thought of having a game that I had even partially designed be released is a dream I've had for a long time. Maybe I'll get lucky and this game will be released some day. I just love the possibility of seeing my name in the credits, maybe even as an Assistant designer.

What am I trying to gain?
One of the bsic ideas in the world today is that "nobody does anything fo free", neither do I. But it's not money I'm after, it's enjoyment and possibly some fame, I see both of those things much more important than money. So, what do I want in return for this concept? I would like to have my name mentioned in the credits, it would make many of my friends envy me. Second, I would like to have some part in developing the game, I would like to see what you have created and make comments about it. That would be enough for me, partly due to the fact that if I would try to sell this, considering that I don't have any professional experience for game designing, I could just as well delete the whole site. No one would wan't to pay for an amateur made concept. One more reason to give this all away for free is to prevent an idea theft. I have copyrighted this material, but what if some big game company still decides to steal it, how much chance would I have in court against multi million corporation, against some smaller company I may have some chances though.

So, you see that I'm not asking much, but I am giving relatively much in return. Currently, I can see many reasons for any company to decline this offer, but I'm trying to reduce those reasons with every word I write here. I'm even gonna be doing a market analysis and business plan at some point. They will be totally amateuristic of course, but still I'm going to make them.
