User Interface

Like I mentioned on the main page, the games point-of-view will be 1st person, so the game view will be from inside your car, with a HUD, of course. Now, first let me tell you what the HUD consist of.
1) Speedometer, tachometer and gear indicator. I though of putting these visible on the dashboard, but I though it would be better to have them on HUD.
2) Radar, a simple view of your radar cone, depending on your radar module, it may have IFF system etc.
3) Contact list, a list of all your current radar contacts, similar to the one in I-WAR.
4) TMD or text messaging device, in other words, chat.
5) Damage indicator, a simple top down view of your car, showing various car components and armor sectors.
6) Weapon indicator, a list of all your weapons, their current target, ammo counter etc.
7) GPS, similat to these days GPS devices, showing either top down map or 3rd person view.
8) 1 or 2 MFDs, showing various detailed information about your target, cargo, vehicle, modules, etc.

Now, one of the reasons I chose 1st person. Many MMOs have 3rd person viewpoint these days, while it's nice to see your own avatar or ship, it also gives advantage of having full 360 degree view, also it makes it possible to zoom out to see things from perspective you can never use in real life.
Let's talk about Pirates of the Burning Sea for a while, since I really liked that game, but one of the things I didn't like, was that with ship combat like that, where situational awareness is one of the key points, you first got the 3rd person viewpoint to help you and if that wasn't enough, you also got mini/local map showing all the enemies. It was no use trying to hide behind obstacles, since enemy saw you on his map. Now, by using 1st person viewpoint, it is possible to actually sneak up on your enemy and makes having good situational awareness even harder, but at the same time more rewarding. There's a big similarity here with many WW2 flight sims, where only way to spot your opponent is to keep looking around all the time.
But still, as many people like 3rd person so much, so they can have a look at their avatar, maybe it could be that inside city instances, 3rd person would be available to use.
