Equipment test / season start x-pedition KP13SX, 4-5.may 2005

Operators: Aulis OH6JW and Johannes OH6HFX

A traditional season-start and equipment test x-pedition in KP13SX took place early may this year. It was predicted that there will be a little shower peak (45 ZHR) 5th may morning, so we hoped to get some fine reflections.

Aulis OH6JW waiting desperately for reflections...

The truth was not so glorious. Conditions were not a firework, mostly random stones and iono / troposcatter also. We could not say there was a peak at any time.

However, we could finish totally 42 QSOs with two stations running same time. Signals nearly from 2200 km (F6HVK) were heard, but the QSOs could not be completed.

This time Aulis OH6JW has got his FT-847 back from repair, and it worked perfectly in the first station with. Also Johannes brought his FT-847 for second station, so we had nearly same equipment as last year, except antennas and linears.

Two stations running same time...

We tested also new system for time synchronization for two or more stations. The system we used in KP54/53 allowed only two stations to be synchronized with each other. This time we had separate Linux-server, which run ntpd - daemon software. It took the exact time from GPS receiver. Then, the client computers (IBM Thinkpads) asked the time from Linux-server via NTP protocol with Dimension4 - software. The system worked 100% fine and the stations were in perfect sync, so we could take the advantage of the few stones with two stations.

Maybe in KP27 we have more than 2 stations for FSK....
