In Memoriam Fin CH BH TK2 Ketturetku Rasse Remulus

With great sorrow i write these words. Our very much loved Rasse has moved to the Rainbow Bridge 19.8.2008. Our great and loyal Rasse. We miss you so much. You have a peace now. 

Rasse was a dog full with fire and life, when he was younger and healthy. Bit by bit his health problems became more difficult and at this summer it was clear to us that the greatest love of all is to let our friend go. No more suffering, no more painkillers. I can not understand yet, that we will never see his blue eyes again. He is deeply missed. 

15.8.2008 Aussiepups 3 weeks! Today it was really warm & sunny afternoon and we took puppies for a while to smell some fresh air. They are starting to move more and more and have tasted solid food a bit also. Xena has been marvellous mother. Yesterday we had our first visitor, and she was again happy and friendly towards this person, nice to see. New photos of each puppy at their blog.

14.8.2008 Dany (S. Rikugien) passed training test with good performance. Dany is now the 4th Snowtime´s spitz to pass this test. Congratulations and Good Luck for the future trainings Rakel!

14.8.2008 Mimisaki´s daughter Pyry (Saarnion Fenix) had her eyes cleared at allmost 7 years of age. 

First visitors have met the puppies and both Haru and Xena have been very happy and open towards the visitors - these visitors are our family members and our dogs know these peopple VERY well beforehand.  

Both litters have their own area at our house and exactly there were we spent most of our time; kitchen and livingroom :)

2.8.2008 ASCA(Australian Shepherd Club of America)/ WEWASC (Western Europe Working Australian Club) herding trial at Kitee (kennel Ardiente). Since Kitee is located quite near to our city, we decided to visit and see the trial, allways interesting to see aussies working with ducks, sheeps and cattle. Of course this time we didn´t have any own dogs with us, since Xena´s puppies are only 1 week old, but it was nice to see again old friends and also new ones with their dogs. At the picture above Wags is herding the sheeps. 

We have our own "sheep-project"  advanced a bit, we have about 1 hectar meadow around our house wich have been fenced now. Time will tell do we have to chance to take our own sheeps this summer, or next one. The idea is to also keep the meadow as a meadow as these rural environments with typical plant and insect species are getting scarse in Finland. And at the same time, our dogs and I could get more practise in herding. Looking forward that..

29.7.2008 As much expected and special japanese spitz litter was born, 1 male and 4 females. Haru did all very well and she and all puppies are doing ok. I will update some photos later.

Both of the litters that have born were very much planned and expected and both are from very special parents & bloodlines for me. I am looking forward how these puppies grow up. And because of this, we don´t have any more puppyplans at this moment or in the near future.

25.7.2008 Our higly hoped australian shepherd litter was born today. We have 5 alert puppies, 4 males and 1 female. Xena and the puppies are doing fine.

First International Champion with Snowtime´s prefix!
Melli (Snowtime´s Shinju) won today BOB and Cacib at Ylivieska and that was the last Cacib she needed to become an international champion. Thank you Soile ja HUGE congratulations!!

During the spring and summer 2008 i have not had much possibilities to use my personal e-mail. During that time, my e-mail has been also full with spam-mails. 19.7.2008 Dany´s (Snowtime´s Rikugien) official elbow & hipresults: hips clear (A/A) and elbow clear (0/0). 
Knees (pat.) have been earlier checked also ok (0/0). Thank you Rakel! 

Dany is a son of Sendo´s (S. Sendoh) sister. I am glad that again one more js from Sendo´s close family is x-rayed. Of course you need to look the whole picture, and the x-rays are just one part of dog´s health. But japanese spitzies are not elbow & hip studied very much in general, even more dogs are x-rayed today than earlier. But compared to the population size, very few spitzies are actually x-rayed. 

10.7.2008 Ketturetku Rasse Remulus 8 years old!
After one year we have again a veteran dog in our house. I am happy to have my beloved grey coat still here with us in fairly good condition :) Above Rasse is 6 years old, a nice photo by Hanna-Mari Laitala.

While waiting Xena´s litter to be born after few weeks, i found a photos from year 2006 when Sissi´s T-puppies were small. When the puppies (both S-litter 2004 and T-litter 2006) were few weeks old, Xena and Sissi took care of them many times together. 

6.7.2008 Melli (S. Shinju) at WW show in Stockholm, she got excellent 4 at open class. Congratulations!

Accel has started slowly to recover from the accident he had at June. Luckily his condition do not cause pain and he is the same happy fellow as allways, but it can take a long time that he is fully recovered if ever. As an physiotherapy we are making long walks with him and our other dogs.

30.6.2008 Riitta and Pepi (S. Romio) passed training test with 34 p / 40. Congratulations!  Now three Snowtime´s spitzies (Pepi, Miisa and Tintti) have allready passed this test and shown that they co-operate nicely with their owners. Thank you.

It seems that Haru (Naomi of Konparu Wakata JP) is pregnant so we are expecting japanese spitz litter to be born late summer 2008 :) The combination is made with co-operation of Sendo´s owner, my sister (also our neighbour).  More info about the combination here.

Rasse few years back 2004-2005, when he was still in top condition :) 26.6.2008 Rasse´s (Fin CH BH TK2 Ketturetku Rasse Remulus) test results revealed a condition called diabetes insipidus. Basicly this means that he can not consentrate his urine as he shoould. There are also some other symptoms caused by his conditions, luckily so far quite minor ones. 

24.6.2008 Xena´s ultrasound was posivite so we are expecting australian shepherd puppies at July 2008 :)! More info about the combination here I will also add more precise litter info soon at the webpage mentioned above!

Happy Mid Summer!

Activities! I have been happy to notice that many young Snowtime´s dogs have been starting to train in different venues! For example Dany, Tintti, Haru, Tami and Pepi have been training in socialization groups and match shows since little, but also started to train obedience and agility. Also Miisa and Sendo have started obedience and agility. These dogs really enjoy it and have lot of motivation! I feel it is nice to see japanese spitzies doing also other things than running a circle and standing still at dog shows :) Of course i value each hobby, also shows, but spitzies also enjoy many hobbies!

16.6.2008 Dany (S. Rikugien) pat-lux clear 0/0 (official) and his good looking hip and elbow X-rays were send to Finnish Kennelclub for official evaluation. We will get the results back probably within few weeks. Thank you Rakel!

14.6.2008 Finnish JS Special show at Kuopio. We participated with Haru (Naomi of Konparu Wakata) and Sissi (Saarnion Fushigi), also 6 dogs bred by us (Snowtime´s Sendoh, S. Shinju, S. Tamagotchi, S. Tsuru Ran, S. Romio and S. Rikugien). We also presented a breeders group. All dogs behaved very well and i was so proud about the good work all owners have done with their spitzies! Many our dogs were still very young and still in the middle of maturing up. There were over 60 spitzies entered and 6 breeders groups. 31.5.2008 After some time we are hoping & expecting two litters during summer - autumn 2008:

An active australian shepherd litter to Xena (Diamond Bluff Paris Texas). Thank you so much Harriet and Karin for all your help & trusting me this magnificent male (Diamond Bluff Cowboy Classic) to make this combination! Thank you also Tytti & Samuli Juntto (Särkivaaran aussies) for all your help! Also an active japanese spitz litter to Haru (Naomi of Konparu Wakata JP). Thank you Virpi - my sister and neighbour - for co-operation with this plan :) At this moment i can not say is there going to be puppies or not, but we will hope for the best and see how things develop   After these litters no puppieplans so far.

Uppsala´s botanical garden and castle behind 21. - 25.5.2008 We spent few very nice days travelling in Sweden and Finland. We visit Uppsala, a really beautiful Swedish city and went to see the lovely botanical garden with thousands of different plant species and also Linne´s museum there. One highlight of our visit was to meet Karin (Xena´s breeder), Harriet and Tina and their aussies. THANK YOU all for a very pleasant evening at Sweden and especially to Tina for having us as a guest at friday!! It was also very interesting to see so many Xena´s relatives and also Noah with some of his relatives. We did some herding with Tina´s ducks and it was really nice to work with Xena after quite long while, she did good work, i think.

Snowtime´s Rikugien 18.5.2008 Today it was Int show in turn at Joensuu. There were many young Snowtime´s spitzies present, really nice to see all of them! 27.4.2008 Mimisaki´s daughter Pyry (Saarnion Fenix) BOS at Vaasa show, also Melli (Snowtime´s Shinju) got excellent in champion bicthess class. Congratulations to both! Accel (of God Mount JP) 5 year old! Congratulations to our Mr. Calm but Happy Attitude! The next few weeks i am propably not much around my e-mail (it is spring again :)), but it is very nice to get e-mail so please keep in touch, i will get back to you as soon as possible!

28.3.2008 Lempi (Agaririum Qimene of Accel) from Accel (Accel of God Mount) & Nana (Agrarium Nakama Nana-san) litter got her results from Finnish Kennelclub; hips B and elbows 0. Thank you owners! A bit earlier this month the father of our T-litter, Nimo (Agrarium Najimi No Naios) was in Liethuania and is now new International & Liethuanian CH + LtuW-08! Congratulations Minni and Susku!  

24.3.2008 Lappeenranta Int show Sendo (S. Sendoh) won BOB with Cacib. Dany (S. Rikugien) very good 2 at junior class, totally without undercoat, but behaving so nicely! Thank you both owners!

The 3rd and 2nd Most Winning Japanese spitzies in Obedience trials in Finland 2007; Accel and Sissi 

Finnish Japanese Spitz Club published the results of obedience competition year 2007. Sissi (Saarnion Fushigi) was 2nd and Accel (of God Mount) 3rd most winning js in obedience competitions year 2007. I am really happy that this breed is also seen in other areas than dog shows, even i don´t train and compete with japanese spitzies soooo seriously. But this is a nice hobby and dogs enjoy also!

We have done it. We booked a flight to USA to see the ASCA Nationals at the end of this year. Really looking forward to see lot of aussies, especially working. 

I participate with Xena at search & rescue course that starts next month at our home town. Really looking forward this also. 

Our local dog club, Savonlinnan Palveluskoirayhdistys, had yearly meeting. Accel was rewarded as the show dog of the year 2007, Sissi was placed 2nd and their son Sendo (S. Sendoh) 3rd :) Hat trick, so to say :-) Xena was also rewarded in obedience area for advancing to third class in obedience. Well, i don´t hobby with my dogs to get the rewards but spent time with my dogs and friends. But of course it feels nice to get recognition.  I Accel´s daughter Belka (Agrarium Qiabel of Accel) won BOB and BIS in Russia! Congratulations!

Finnish japanese spitz club has launced a health survey. So far following Snowtime´s dogs have participated: Suojan Ron, Mimisaki, Mahti Vahdin Tarik, Saarnion Fushigi, Accel of God Mount, Naomi of Konparu Wakata, S. Shinju, S. Tamagotchi, S. Tsuru Ran, S. Romio and S. Sendoh. 

15.3.2008 Few photos from last weekend. Really nice and shiny weather, we were outdoors allmost whole weekend.  Updated results-page, through the years 

Rasse visited vet because of his back and stomach pains and lot of drinking. Back was about OK, no pain there. But stomach was really sore. I have been suspecting for a long time that he has two different problems and this visit confirmed that. He has back problem and some internal problem, possibly with his kidney area and/or cancer, but at this moment the back is not causing pain, it is just very rigid and resticts his movements. We decided to start pain killers for the stomach pains. He seems to respond very well to that, he seems to feel better. We also started new diet for him. I am not sure is this medication going to be permanent for the rest of his life, or just a short period, but we´ll see. However i have decided that he does not need to suffer any pain. As long as the medication helps...

23.8.2008 Tuusniemi show. After 6 months Accel (Accel of God Mount JP) and Sissi (Saarnion Fushigi) participated again at show with our "junior department"; Haru (Naomi of Konparu Wakata), Pepi (S. Romio) and Tami (S. Tamagotchi). It was nice to meet again all the friends and see japanese spitzies with nice behaviour and character. Pepi and his owner did their debut in shows and that went really well. Thank you ! Accel won the brood male 2007 competition by Finnish JS club!  3.2.2008 Finnish Japanese Spitz club had yearly meeting and also the most merited dogs from previuous year 2007 were rewarded. Accel was rewarded as the best breeding male 2007 on the basis of the records of his offsprings. There were only 2 litters (2 different combination) that gave Accel his points; Snowtime´s Sendoh, Subarashii Suzu, Shinju, Bella Godivas Deidamia and Defendente. I hope this tells something about my principle: quality instead of quantity.  Our other results were: Accel of God Mount: the breeding male 1. and the 8. most winning JS male   Snowtime´s Subarashii Suzu 2nd most winning JS female Saarnion Fushigi 6th most winning JS female and 2nd breeding bitch  Snowtime´s kennel 8th in breeders class (by the results of the puppies bred by us) 

Accel´s son BG Defendente 2nd most winning JS male and daughter BG Deidamia 4th in bitchies class. Mimisaki´s daughter Saarnion Fenix also 6th in the brood bitch category. Congratulations to all!

3.2.2008 Timi´s daughter Saarnion Fenix won BOB at Keuruu. At the same show Accel´s daughter Agrarium Qimene of Accel excellent 1 in intermdiate bitches. Congratulations! 

2.2.2008 At Eno show with the "yougsters" Dany (S. Rikugien) and Haru (Naomi of Konparu Wakata). Both got very good 1 with nice reviews. Both behaved very well, they had NICE time, they are not affraid of anything and are open toward places & peopple. Nice JS characters! Dany was in his first show ever and still he behaved as he has been there many times :) Few new photos of Haru, Dany and Sendo (S. Sendoh) above!

29.1.2008 Xena was ultrasound today and unfortunately no puppies at this time. Most likely timing of the mating was too late, as i allready suspected earlier. But we will try again early summer 2008! Meanwhile we continue training with her :-) Rasse visited vet and we took some blood samples. He has been feeling quite Ok, but still he is not OK. He is tired and drinks alot and he has lost some weight. Otherwise the samples were ok, but all of the white cell values were low and the total amount of white cells were below normal range. We continue to looking after him.

We are hoping an australian shepherd litter at spring 2008 for Xena! Xena (BH TK1 Diamond Bluff Paris Texas) visited Tito (CH JK2 HK1 Ardiente Don Corleone STDs 1st leg) at New Years Eve. Because of the timing, we were able to get Xena´s progesterone level after the mating and it showed that timing of mating was fairly late. But we keep our fingers crossed. Xena will be ultrasound later to be sure. If no puppies this time, we will try to mate her again from her next season (around may 2008).  Thank you Soile, Soile´s parents and Pia for your time and effort!! If everything goes as we are hoping, an aussie litter would be born around march 2008! I am hoping for litter suitable for different dog sports! After owning japanese spitzies for 22 year now, i see no idea to make aussies to be just a show dogs... More info here at puppies page
